Abrar Anwar, is the Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), Bangladesh. He joined the Bank in 2011 as Head of Corporate & Institutional Clients. He has more than 24 yearsexperience in international banking in Bangladesh, India and the UK. His achievements include setting up of the first “Syndication & Structured Finance” business in Bangladesh (for the then ANZ Grindlays Bank), along with successful closure of milestone transactions in the Energy & Power, Infrastructure, Telecom, Aviation, Domestic and Export-oriented industries. Prior to joining Standard Chartered Bangladesh he was the Managing Director & Head of Global Corporate & Commercial Banking, Citibank NA, Bangladesh and Head of Specialist Finance & Advisory Services, ANZ Grindlays Bank. Abrar holds a MBA degree from Bangladesh’s premier business school, the Institute of Business Management (IBA).
Ahmed Shaheen,a multifaceted management professional with diversified experience. He is Deputy Managing Director and Chief Business Officer of Prime Bank in Bangladesh. His portfolio covers Structured Finance, Trade Services, Treasury, Transaction Banking and Offshore Banking. Previously he was Dhaka Area Head of Corporate Banking in Eastern Bank and has also worked with IFIC Bank. He has significant contribution in Structured Trade Finance under risk mitigation with multilaterals like IFC, ADB, FMO and Syndication Financing in Bangladesh. He developed innovative trade products in Bangladesh and which is now replicated in different emerging markets. He was the mastermind of Biman’s Foreign Currency PDP financing by local banks led by Eastern Bank for purchase of Boeing 777 aircrafts. Commercial Paper product was arranged for the 1st time in Bangladesh under his leadership while working as Head of Structured Finance in Eastern Bank. He is a Certified Documentary Credit Specialist-CDCS and also a member of ICC Bangladesh Banking Committee.
He received CEO’s Award in Eastern Bank Limited for his consistent outstanding performance and regularly publishes articles on “Banking” & “Economics” in the National Dailies.
Ajai Kumar, a distinguished banker, is the former Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank. He is presently the Senior Strategic Advisor to Yes Bank and a Director on the Board of Multi Commodity Exchange of India. He has painstakingly taken several initiatives for promoting bank’s growth through varied strategies in his positions at Bank of Baroda (BOB), Uco Bank, and Corporation Bank. At BOB, He was General Manager Retail Banking and Head of Bank’s Technology Division for Business Transformation Projects and IT Operations. As CMD of Corporation Bank, he enabled creation of strong business processes and structures such as SME Loan Centres, Circle Offices, Corp Excel branches, Gold Loan Shoppes etc resulting in strong business growth in the Bank. He was also Member of the Board of Directors of Indo Zambia Bank Ltd and a Founder Director on Board of National Payment Corporation of India. He holds a Master’s Degree in Physics from University of Allahabad, a Law degree and is a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers.
M A (Rumee) Ali, an eminent Banker, started his career with ANZ Grindlays Bank in Bangladesh in 1975. In 1997, he was appointed CEO of the bank’s Bangladesh operations and later in 2000 continued as CEO of ANZ and SCB (post the takeover by SCB). In 2002 he joined Bangladesh Bank as Deputy Governor and was responsible for supervision and driving the regulatory reforms in the banking sector. He was Chairman of the National Task Force on Anti- Money Laundering, the National Committee for Implementation of Basle II and member of Nationalised Commercial Banks Working Group, National Advisory Committee on Small & Medium Enterprise; Sub-Committee on UN Conventions on Anti-Terrorism, constituted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also served on the Governing Board of PKSF. From 2007 to 2015 he served as MD, Enterprises & Investments at BRAC and as Advisor to the Interim Executive Director, BRAC. He also served as a member of the Board of BRAC and BRAC International and various BRAC entities. He was Vice Chairman of the Bankers Association of Bangladesh and the Employers Federation. He is a member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Bangladesh Investment Climate Fund; Alliance for Bangladesh Workers Safety (USA), Global Alliance for Banking on Values and Performance Based Funds Initiative of IFC/World Bank Washington. In Oct 2015, he took over as Chief Executive of Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre.
Anurag Mishra, Regional Lead – Asia Pacific Region, Global Trade Finance & Supply Chain Solutions, joined International Finance Corporation (IFC), World Bank Group, in October 2011. Anurag has nearly 20 years of experience in Banking and prior to joining IFC, he was Acting CEO and Head, Wholesale Banking, Standard Chartered Bank, Nepal. He was also part of the Executive Committee of Nepal Bankers Association & has been on the Board of numerous organizations. He is a regular speaker and panel member in seminars, workshops and conferences across the globe. At IFC, he is a Senior member of the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) Team in Asia and specifically responsible for Trade and Supply Chain Finance
Sudatta Mandal has been with Exim Bankof India since 1995 and has vast experience in Corporate Credit. Till May 2015, he was the Credit Head for both SME business and Large Corporate business, responsible for providing financial assistance and advisory services to eligible Indian exporters for their domestic funding requirements as well as overseas ventures. Currently,he is the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer of the Bank, responsible for managing the Credit, Market and Operational risks of the Bank. He is currently heading our MIS and Risk Management Group and is also the Chief Strategy Officer of the Bank. He is also the Head of Strategy, responsible for formulating the business and operational strategy for the Bank. Mr. Mandal holds a B-Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT-Kanpur, and PGDM from IIM-Calcutta
KK is Head of Trade Finance at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, UAE. KK is the Head of Trade Finance managing both Sales and Product functions within Transaction Banking in ADCB.
Prior to this he was with Standard Chartered Bankwhere he was the Head of Corporate Product Management for UAE & DIFC and has worked in various roles within SCB over the last 12 years. KK has had over 17 years of Banking experience in Trade Finance covering Operations, Product Management, Sales and Business Management and has spent a large part of his career in the Middle East & India. KK is a Trade finance professional since 1995 having started his career in HSBC and has helped clients in structuring trade solutions which optimize working capital requirements, providing risk mitigation structures for Open Account trade and efficient working capital solutions for Supply Chain financing.
KK is a post graduate in Management from University of Madras. He is also a graduate in Physics from St. Joseph’s College. He has completed Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) in Trade Finance and also a Factoring Expert.
Syed Mahbubur Rahman, has been the Managing Director & CEO of BRAC Bank Limited since June 2010. Before joining BRAC Bank, he served with Prime Bank as the Deputy Managing Director. He also worked with IDLC Finance, Standard Chartered Bank, ANZ Grindlays Bank and Citibank in different capacities. He started his career with Saudi Bangladesh Agricultural and Industrial Investment Co. He is also the Director of BRAC-EPL Investments, BRAC-EPL Stock Brokerage, BRAC Saajan Exchange (FSA, UK), bKash, Industrial and Infrastructure Development Finance Company and The Bangladesh Rating Agency Limited. He has over 25 years of experience in Banking & Financial Institutions. He has an MBA from Institution of Business Administration, University of Dhaka. Ambi is a Banking Consultant based in USA. His consulting expertise is in the area of Risk Management for Banks and Financial Institutions. Ambi has over 35 years of experience as a Banking Executive including 26 years with Bank of America Corporation in different positions including Senior VP and Country Head Indiaand Managing Director and Head of North Asia Corporate Banking based in Hong Kong. Then, he worked for five years as Chief Risk Officer (CRO), Mashreq Bank, Dubai and CRO, Aozora Bank Ltd., Tokyo for four years.
